I've been reading Bakerella's blog ever since Soapylove posted about her cake pops, and I decided to try my hand at making her cupcakes as soap. I'm not ready to try the cake pops in soap, but the cupcakes looked like a possibility.

I made two versions and I'd love your feedback! The first is meant to look like fondant with a smooth top (notice I said meant to look like) and the other is meant (that word again) to look like frosting. Notice the lumpy texture of the "frosting"? I also used more purple soap so the chocolate and purple is about even. Let me know what you think....they're still in the work-in-progress stage.

Version 2 (notice the amazing photography ~ so crisp and clear)
I have a confession, for the past week I've neglected this blog because of Soapylove, it's all her fault. Read her post and you'll know what I've been obsessed with for the past week. I can't help myself, I have to make these...they are absolutely the cutest.
I've come to my senses somewhat and I've started making soap again, but I do have one more cake mix...hmmm....

As a change from Soap-of-the-Day, I'll be posting some ideas for favors and goodie bags for all sorts of events. I love putting together favors for baby showers, bridal showers, and weddings in particular, but there are tons of great ideas for birthday parties and corporate events as well. Please chime in and let me know what you think of some of our ideas!

First up are soap Petit Fours which we make in just about any color for orders of ten sets or more. These are samples we did for a customer planning an event around July 4th with a red, white, and blue theme. Each petit four is approximately 1 ounce of soap with your choice of fragrance.

We live in Northern Virginia, in a quiet suburb of Washington, DC. but close enough to enjoy all the wonderful things the city has to offer. One of my favorites is the annual Cherry Blossom Festival which celebrates the amazing trees around the Tidal Basin and East Potomac Park. This year they're anticipating the peak bloom to be April 1 - 4th. If you ever get a chance to visit DC during the bloom you will not regret it. The trees in bloom around the Tidal Basin (Jefferson Memorial) are one of the most beautiful things I've seen in nature, it snows blossoms there, and sitting under a canopy of those gorgeous blossoms is amazing.

The man is heavily involved in a new project that has left little time for soap designing. It's likely the soap of the day feature will have to become....Soap of the Whenever The Man has Time to Design. *sigh*

I've been trying my hand at some new designs as well so I'll post those for comments. I like one in particular but I'm testing whether or not it holds together in use. I should have some new ones to post in the next few days.

In the meantime, here are two Teddy Bears looking for a baby shower. :-)

There was a time that if I heard it, read it, saw it, or said it, I could recall it easily in detail at any time. I mean really recall it, the kind of recall that husbands hate..."it was 3 years ago on a Tuesday, standing over there wearing that t-shirt I hate, you said blah blah blah". I never needed to take notes or write reminders for myself.

Now, if I don't have a yellow sticky handy there's a 50-50 chance I'll forget. The whole point of this post is really to say that I think I might have already posted the circle soap cut into bars (below), and if so, I plead memory loss.

You know you're in trouble when your 8 year old recommends Ginkgo Biloba.

Mr. Soap Wish made a great soap awhile ago and we didn't have the heart to cut it, but now it's in bars and for sale in our Etsy shop. I like the happy colors, I hope you do too
Thursday, March 26, 2009

You will likely note two things:

1. Soap of the Day has been Soap of Every Few Days

2. Lately, The Soap of the Every Few Days has been a different style

The scoop is Mr. Soap Wish has been otherwise occupied for several days which leaves me to design :-)

This little swirl is a great mixture of vanilla and green tea fragrances, ultramarine blue, gold mica, and green mica.

A departure from our usual soaps, this one is made with a goat's milk base and two great Bramble Berry scents; Turkish Mocha and Vanilla Select.
Here's the Bramble Berry description (and it is right on target) Turkish Mocha has a creamy top notes of milk, cardamom, cocoa and a touch of nutmeg. The alluring, complex blend winds down to heady scents of vanilla and honey run, and of course, Turkish Coffee.
We added Vanilla Select to the lighter toned soap which makes a fantastic scent bouquet!

More glass tile (like) soap.... See it in our shop

Very cool...take a minute and watch!
Tuesday, March 17, 2009
Seriously, doesn't this soap make you think of the new glass tile you see everywhere? My sister has glass tile as a backsplash in her kitchen and this soap looks like glass tile. It has a fantastic lavender scent as well so it's beautiful and adds a great fragrance to your home. Let me know what you think, am I wrong about the tile?

I love this one, I can say that because I didn't make it....once again it is the work Mr. Soap Wish that wows the crowd. :-) Click here to view our Etsy listing

Make sure you come back again soon, the man came up with several amazing designs that will be debuting here in the next few days!

I love this soap! It's really hard to get a good picture that shows just how cool it is, so you'll have to take my word for it....it's really cool!

I've been seriously under the weather for the last two days and as a result I'm behind on the soap of the day. I'm back among the living (I think) and I will be working hard to get caught up again.

Looks like Soap of the Yesterday is getting more common than Soap of the Day....a thousand apologies! This is a tough one....guess who made these bunnies, me or Mr. Soap Wish (aka the man).
Monday, March 9, 2009

Here's the deal, if you can guess how this Soap of the Day was made, we'll send you one pound of soap of your choice. Can you guess what we used and how we made the layers? Click here to see it in our shop!

This is the dog's Webkinz. It didn't start out that way, this lovely little guy was a gift for the boy; however, it didn't take long for the dog to claim it as his own. You see, the dog is black, this Webkinz is black, the dog treats the Webkinz like his brother, except for the chewing off body parts part. He carries his buddy everywhere and if he accidentally leaves him outside he will whine at the door until we let him out to get him. He hasn't started playing the Webkinz games on the computer, but who knows, that could be next.

A soap bracelet just for fun. Actually, it's very flexible and I confess to wearing it to the grocery store (it went lovely with my sweatpants).

Several people have asked about the man's artistic talent, so I thought I'd share a little something he sculpted out of clay one night. Yes, one night while watching TV this is what he came up with........
Busy day yesterday at casa Soap Wish...here's yesterday's soap of the day, it still needs some work, but the design has some potential. Let us know what you think!

Wednesday, March 4, 2009

Why is this so exciting? Normally plants die if I come into the room and somehow these little guys have hung on and even thrived. I made them a couple of weeks ago and now I have a bit of green in the office! I'm in love with terrariums.
The man likes to work at night and I like to sleep at night. When I get up in the morning I like to go downstairs and see what he was up to the night before. Here's what he was up to last night (and yes, it's soap).

Tuesday, March 3, 2009
A small soap, perfect for favors or to take along on your next trip!
Believe it or not, the real issue with the Soap of the Day is taking the photos! Here's another one of our mosaic soaps, but with a bit softer look.
Sunday, March 1, 2009
It's been a busy weekend so I admit today's soap of the day isn't exactly earth shattering, but we have more exiciting designs coming soon.

Here's part of an order for our soap shots, heading to Canada for bridal shower favors!
Saturday, February 28, 2009
Okay, that's a little joke...we used Yuzu as the fragrance in this soap. We're going to list these as a set of 6, packaged in a gold organza bag. Our version of soap to go!
Yesterday's soap design was delayed due to the excitement of seeing our interview on Anne-Marie's blog (see below). So here's yesterday's design, the man's latest contribution to the watermelon soap wars. I'll post today's soap later.
BIG excitement here at casa Soap Wish, our interview with Anne-Marie (THE Soap Queen)is up on her blog, click here to read the interview. If you don't know Anne-Marie, she is the super successful CEO of Bramble Berry, Teach Soap, Otion Soap Shop, and Organic Fusion, but most important is that she is unbelievably supportive of beginning and established bath and beauty businesses. I am in awe of her energy level, I have no idea how she finds the time to encourage and mentor so many different people, of which we are two. Thank you!
Thursday, February 26, 2009
My version of watermelon soap...notice the seeds (black soap)? I was quite proud of myself, right up until I went downstairs and saw the man's watermelon soap (see previous post)

Ooops! I'm a day behind in posting our soap design of the day. The other night I was inspired by our new watermelon fragrance (from Bramble Berry) and I made a watermelon soap in a small round mold. The next morning I went downstairs and saw what the man made.....

Needless to say this design is far superior to my whimsical littl goodies! I'll post my photos later today so you can compare.
Tuesday, February 24, 2009

I'm cheating a bit here, this is a new design, but it's one we have in our shop already. I happen to love it, it looks amazing in person, and I can't resist a chance to show it off a bit. It smells as good as it looks as well, with a fresh "rain" scent.
Monday, February 23, 2009

I like the idea of this soap but the execution is still a bit off. I'll be making it again and I'll post the new version when it's complete. In the meantime, it will have to do as the soap design of the day. :-)
